I tell Andrew: I want to go to Paris together.
Our friend Caroline just returned from her trip there, and she sits at our counter picking at a bowl of tortilla chips shaped like leaves. She describes the buttery garlicky herby escargot and her quintessential Parisian apartment with a delicate tablecloth and wooden beams and balcony over the bustling street below. Over the past week, I routinely checked Instagram solely to follow updates from her stay, often laying beside Andrew in bed before he turns out the bedside lamp.
Recency bias is defined on Wikipedia as a memory bias that gives greater importance to the most recent event. Andrew believes I only want to go to Paris because Caro was just in Paris. I think: so what?
Today I share stills from our trip to Paris together in 2018, as inspired by my dear Caroline’s recent visit. Maybe we’ll go back together, someday.
