My photo essays often serve as a time capsule. I have kept physical photo albums of my film photography for nearly a decade now. My intention of the albums is both to archive and share my work. And yet, I could count on my left hand the number of times a visitor has asked to flip through my albums.
So I share them here. I’ll dredge the depths of my private Facebook albums to find my only remaining digital copies of my earlier photographs. Maybe one day I’ll figure out how to back up my files. Until that day, this newsletter will serve as my photo albums. I invite you to page through.
Lucky Rigatoni Goes Paid $$$
As a wedding gift, my dear friend Matt gave me a stunning soft-cover edition of LR’s archive.
When I opened it, he texted me:
I’m not gonna get all emotional or whatever but I’m so proud of everything you’re doing. I think the last newsletter in the book is about calling yourself a writer and how there’s always self-doubt. As I was putting this together, I wasn’t sure if it would be 80 pages or 180 pages. So the fact that there’s over 200 pages of your writing is amazing. I genuinely hope you never stop.
Some of you have subscribed to this newsletter since my first dispatch seven years ago, written from a dusty hostel in Seville. From a sporadic, rambling email sent in search of connection, this newsletter has grown into a project I’m actually proud of.
Today I have enabled paid subscriptions for Lucky Rigatoni. Starting in April, paid subscribers will continue to receive my weekly newsletter and free subscribers will be limited to one or two posts a month.
If you are financially unable to become a paid subscriber at this time, but wish to continue receiving LR every week, please reach out to me directly. I appreciate all of your support and look forward to the future of Lucky Rigatoni.
You make my heart sing, Kelsey girl. Love you sooooooooooooomuch
